Issue 5: October 2007

www.flashden.net

Hello Flashers!
It's October and FlashDen has crossed 20,000 members which is a huge milestone for the site and a good reminder that it's been a while since we had a FoxMail go out! So here's a wrap up of our new competition, news from support, general site updates and of course lots of great files!

The FlashDen Team

Birthday

The Templated Competition

Our latest competition on the site is to make the best site templates of November. Contestants are asked to submit a site template file by the end of October (so you have a little more than a week to get in there!) and then during November we'll see whose files sell the best. There are lots of prizes up for grabs:

FlashDen Support .. Back Online

During September and early October we regretfully had a series of issues with the FlashDen support system which resulted in us losing quite a number of queries and some of our valued customers not getting the help they needed.

We've now switched to a new system which for the last two weeks has been working out really well. With Jun at the helm and Bobocel, Collis and Ryan answering tickets as well, the support system is now moving along well.

If you had a support request which didn't get answered, please send in a new one and we'll make sure everything gets answered. Sorry about the problems and we regret any inconvenience it may have caused.

Site Updates

As FlashDen has been growing faster and faster, we've been working hard to keep up. Both traffic and sales have been hitting new records and the growth looks to not be slowing down.

FlashDen is currently hiring new developers to boost the team. But in the meantime Ryan has been working with freelancers and running fixes and improvements across the site. You will notice small features popping up like Daily Stats for Authors and Documentation Quality Rating on Files, but also a lot of work is being done on the internals of the site as we brace for even more growth.

Wanted - Rails Developers in Sydney
If you are a Rails Developer in Sydney who is looking for full-time work, we'd love to hear from you. You'll need to have a fair bit of experience and work with best practices like test driven development. If this sounds like you, send us an email to discuss.
